The historic Rivertown and waterfront in Antioch date back to the 1850s, on the San Joaquin River at the edge of the Delta, on the eastern end of the Bay Area. About 119,000 people live here, and San Francisco is about 50 miles away.
Outdoor options are good. There is fishing and boating on the Delta, a marina and pier, Contra Loma Regional Park for swimming and hiking, and Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve nearby. Violent crime is above the California average, vehicle theft and break-ins are common, and parts of central and west Antioch have had elevated crime.
