Perrine Bridge, a well-known BASE jumping spot, crosses the Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, the hub of Idaho's Magic Valley. It is a farming town of about 56,000 people set on a plateau above the canyon, which is the main event, and the rim trail gives easy views. Shoshone Falls, sometimes called the Niagara of the West, is at its best in spring.
Day to day the city is compact and practical, with a small historic downtown, and chain shopping along Blue Lakes. Balanced Rock and Thousand Springs are about 40 miles away, and Craters of the Moon is roughly 90. Living costs sit near the national average, and the housing market has cooled from the 2021 and 2022 surge. Winters bring snow and wind, summers get hot, and wildfire smoke drifts in. Stay behind the railings at the rim, and expect property theft to be the main crime worry.
