Summer nights bring concerts and First Fridays to Fullerton, a college town in northern Orange County with about 140,000 people, home to Cal State Fullerton and Fullerton College and the birthplace of Leo Fender's electric guitar. Its downtown is the draw: a dense grid of bars, restaurants and craft beer spots around the historic train depot and the Fox Theatre, lively on weekend nights.
Beyond the bars, there is the Fullerton Arboretum on the campus, Hillcrest Park, the museum center and a good historic walking tour. Disneyland and Brea Mall are close, and Los Angeles is about 25 miles away by road or by Amtrak and Metrolink from the depot. The neighborhoods vary, from upscale Sunny Hills to student-heavy areas near campus. Housing is expensive, as it is throughout coastal Orange County. Crime is moderate, mostly car break-ins and weekend incidents in the bar district. Earthquakes, smog, and Santa Ana fire risk in the nearby hills are the environmental caveats.

About this data
Population is an approximate recent Census estimate (2020 Census 143,617; latest estimate about 140,000), not exact. No dedicated tourism bureau was confirmed, so the city website is used as visitor_website; the events calendar is the Downtown Fullerton events page on the city site. Metro figure 12,844,441 is the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim MSA, shared with Los Angeles and Long Beach (this city is not the anchor). Search snippets only were used (no page fetches), so confidence is moderate. Elevation, coordinates, founding, event months, hotel ranges, tipping, cost-of-living index, airport distances, crime figures and rents are approximate or from general knowledge and not verified in this pass. Official URLs found via search but not load-tested.
